On measured robot density โ the standard gauge of manufacturing automation โ Singapore leads with 818 robots per 10,000 manufacturing workers against France's 195 (2024 data). That is a gap of 623 robots per 10,000 workers, or roughly 4.2ร France's level. Both figures come from IFR World Robotics via Our World in Data.
Direction of travel matters as much as the gap. France moved from 186 (2023) to 195 (2024), a +4.8% change, while Singapore went from 770 to 818, a +6.2% change. Singapore is adding automation capacity at the faster rate of the two. Rising density usually reflects new robot installations outpacing manufacturing employment, rather than a shrinking workforce.
On high-performance computing, France has 21 systems on the current TOP500 list against Singapore's 7. Autonomous-vehicle figures shown above are modeled estimates and are excluded from the Automation Score.
